Job Description: Utility Regulatory Compliance Manager
Position Overview:
The Utility Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards within the energy and utilities industry. This role involves managing regulatory compliance programs, assessing risks, and developing strategies to maintain adherence to applicable laws and regulations. The Utility Regulatory Compliance Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement compliance initiatives, monitor compliance metrics, and provide guidance to mitigate potential compliance issues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive utility regulatory compliance program to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
2. Monitor and assess regulatory changes, identifying potential impact on the organization, and recommending appropriate actions to maintain compliance.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define compliance strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
4. Conduct regular compliance audits, inspections, and reviews to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
5. Provide guidance and support to business units on compliance-related matters, ensuring understanding and adherence to regulatory requirements.
6. Develop and deliver compliance training programs tailored to different employee levels, promoting awareness and understanding of regulatory compliance obligations.
7. Maintain comprehensive documentation and records related to regulatory compliance activities, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is readily available.
8. Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and industry associations, acting as the primary point of contact for compliance-related communications and inquiries.
9. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging regulations, and best practices to proactively address potential compliance challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement corrective actions or preventive measures to address compliance issues and mitigate risks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Energy Management, or a related discipline.
2. Proven experience (X years) in utility regulatory compliance management within the energy or utilities industry.
3. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing utilities, such as FERC, NERC, EPA, and state public utility commissions.
4. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
5. Excellent understanding of compliance auditing processes and techniques.
6. Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and communicate them effectively to diverse stakeholders.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify compliance issues, assess risks, and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
8. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
